Rev Thomas Clendon (1601-1677)
A son of Henry Clendon (1557-1605) he was born in Wellingborough and died in Radwinter, Essex, England. He married Grace Colemore in 1628 at Sutton Coldfield in Warwickshire.
CLENDON, THOMAS. Adm. sizar at Emmanuel, 1620. Matric. Easter, 1620; B.A. 1623-4; M.A. 1627. Incorp. at Oxford, 1627. Sequestered to All Hallows, Barking, 1643. Doubtless R. of Radwinter, Essex, 1667-77. Died 1677.
He was Minister of Alhallows Barking in Tower St London where he encountered the wrath of a neighbour, Hester Shaw, who went so far as to publish a pamphlet entitled A Plain Account of my Suffereings…” denouncing his apparent comments in 1653. It is worth a look for an insight to the period!
The Reverend William Clendon
Rev. William Clendon is described in Cambridge University records as the son of the Master of Wellingborough School, was born about 1640 and was admitted as a sizar at Clare Hall, Cambridge, 01 Dec 1658. He matriculated 1659 as “Clendar” and migrated to Emmanuel College, 18 Jan 1650/60; B.A. 1662; M.A. 1666. he was licensed to preach at Sywell 1664/5. He was Rector of Draughton, Northants, 19 Apr 1665 to 1670, vicar of Weekley 29 Nov 1670 to 1675, rector of Scaldwell 31 Mar 1675 to 1722. William died 04 Sep 1722 and was buried Sep 14 at Scaldwell. His wife, Mary, was buried 04 Sep 1704 at Scaldwell.

The Rev. Thomas Clendon was christened 7 Nov 1695 at Broughton, Northants and buried 5 Aug 1757 at Sturry, Kent. He was at Rugby school 1704 and entered Emmanuel College, Cambridge, 25 Jun 1713, matriculated 1713, B.A. 1716/7, M.A. 1720. A deacon at Lincoln 4 Jul 1717, priest at London 13 Mar 1719/20, curate to his father at Fenny Drayton 1717, rector of Reculver, Kent, 24 Oct 1729 to 1757, vicar of Sturry in Kent 27 Jun 1734 to 1757, with Chapel of Hoath.

George Clendon b 1798,
George Clendon was born Aug 1, 1798 and christened Aug 31st at Deal. He was listed as a chemist in 1826 at Ramsgate, Kent when he was appointed executor to a will made by Thomas Erridge, husband of his half-sister Susanna. A sword belt in the possession of his descendant in the United States is engraved Artillery of Ramsgate in which he probably served.
